S'MORES... A PreK through Kindergarten Game
The S'MORES gameboard is used as a visual organizer for the game. As you play and create your s'mores, you will use the game tokens to show your thinking in the ten-frame. This is the dark grid at the top right corner of each side. Ten frames help kids develop number sense. It teaches them to subitize and is a precursor to addition. As NCTM points out, "The ten-frame uses the concept of benchmark numbers (5 and 10) and helps students develop visual images for each number."
Using the ten-frame during the game is a great way to also ask questions that encourage mathematical conversations! Use the questions below to help guide those conversations. ~ How many s'mores do you have? How do you know? ~ How did you see it? |
We filled your backpack with great ideas! Check out the items that are included!
