Who should attend?
K-8 teachers, coaches, administrators, curriculum directors will form a cadre of practitioners knowledgeable about mathematics content, instruction and how to translate the standards into classroom practice.
Each cohort will attend a two day summer session (June 12-13) and meet twice a year during the school year (Oct. 9 and Jan. 14).
- Develop leadership and facilitation skills for implementing mathematics professional development
- Each full day session will include materials and resources that Mathematics Leadership Academy participants can take back to share at the building or district level. Topics (for 1 or 2 hour professional development sessions) may focus on effective mathematics teaching practices such as: tasks that promote reasoning and problem solving, fluency, questioning, mathematical representations, mathematical discourse, and using evidence of student thinking. Participants in the Mathematics Leadership Academy can use all materials as par of PD implemented at the district or building level.
