What A new IMPACT 2 course focusing on Geometry and Measurement. Participants must have been an IMPACT 1 Fellow to register. Watch for a mailing with program and registration information that will be sent in early September. Bright Start, Right StartWho 30 central Ohio early childhood educators and administrators. What Sponsored by American Electric Power, this multi-day summer program provided hands-on experiences and activities that educators can use in their classroom to fuel a child’s fascination and wonder, and help develop a foundation for later success in K-12 science learning. Participants received numerous resource and activity books and classroom kits to enable them to re-create the activities they experienced at the workshop in their classrooms with ease. (MS)2: Maximizing Success in Mathematics and Science
This network of curriculum directors from Franklin County and surrounding districts focuses on mathematics and science issues and needs in their districts. Through monthly meetings and an annual, day-long retreat, common issues and curriculum strategies are discussed. Often, the group recommends or designs professional development sessions offered to teachers from all districts. One recent example was a one-day session specifically for 5th grade teachers, focused on the Ohio Achievement Test. Minimal financial assistance to or a professional development contract with the TLC is appreciated, but not required for involvement.
