Science Tasks with Otis & Flask

Finally – resources written by science education practitioners for science teachers in Ohio and across the U.S. to help students learn and review some of the most difficult elementary school science concepts and content!

This exciting new program includes a set of 9 Science Tasks booklets. There is one booklet for each of the following topics:

• Processes that Shape the Earth’s Surface
• Plant & Animal Structure/Function Relationships
• Forces Affecting Objects    
• Motion of Objects
• Thermal Energy Transfer
• Characteristics of Physical & Chemical Changes
• Fossils
• Earth Resources – Rocks
• Earth Resources – Soils

Each Center booklet includes:

• an overview of the science content, concepts and vocabulary to be reviewed;
• direct references to the relevant 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th Grade Ohio Science Benchmarks and Indicators;
• step-by-step directions for at least one easy-to-set-up, rich, hands-on science experience;
• blackline masters for student recording sheets;
• blackline masters for students to explain their comprehension via short-answer responses to questions that are similar in style to those used in the Ohio Achievement Test; and
• rubrics for students and teachers to check student answers.

Math Camp In: A Mathematics Adventure for First and Second Grade Classrooms

Math Camp In is an exciting way to bring mathematics to your classroom or building!

Math Camp In began as an overnight program where students returned to school, hiked to math "trail posts" (stations), completed rich mathematical tasks and recorded ideas in their Camp Journal. Now, you can use Math Camp In as an overnight experience, a mini-unit in the regular classroom or a Family Math Night.

Camp-In-A-Box contains materials in numbers sufficient to conduct Math Camp In with 26 students. All you need to add is a few perishable items and excited students!
