wow! review resources for the 5th grade OAT

Finally – resources written by Ohio science education practitioners for Ohio science students and teachers to help review for the 5th grade Ohio Achievement Test in Science!

Available to ship in late Summer 2008, the resources include a set of 9 Science Centers booklets. Grounded in the Ohio Science Academic Content Standards, there is one booklet focusing on each of the following topics:

  • Processes that Shape the Earth’s Surface    
  • Plant & Animal Structure/Function Relationships
  • Forces Affecting Objects    
  • Motion of Objects
  • Thermal Energy Transfer
  • Characteristics of Physical & Chemical Changes
  • Fossils
  • Earth Resources – Rocks
  • Earth Resources – Soils

Each Center booklet includes:

  • an overview of the science content, concepts and vocabulary to be reviewed;
  • direct references to the relevant 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade Science Benchmarks and Indicators;
  • step-by-step directions for at least one easy-to-set-up, rich, hands-on science experience;
  • blackline masters for student recording sheets;
  • blackline masters for students to explain their comprehension via short-answer responses to questions that are similar in style to those used in the Ohio Achievement Test; and
  • rubrics for students and teachers to check their answers.
